Day 15 to Campiello

18 September 2023 Day 15 destination Campiello , Asturias 15 km

Only 15 km day with one big climb ( and a long downhill )- warm-up for tomorrow and rest and recovery day for joints and muscles! Both of us have ankle issues attributable to steep walking downhill too fast.

Again, the pictures attached and pretty much speak to the experience today. Wundershoen!

Much of the Camino is on private property with ‘right of way’ given through the countryside.

Interestingly, many of the walkers blazed by some of the amazing vistas -expediency over contemplation I found that juxtaposition odd and wondered what they are missing by walking so quickly - and missing out on gratitude moments in God’s creation

The grade was modest, but it was steady for the first half of the day all the way to the pass

1000 years of wagon cart traffic has worn to ruts in solid stone over the centuries!

The morning light today in this and preceding images was just spectacular. I think most of the foliage has a sheen of water from the overnight rain, which magnifies and saturates the colors.

Highlight of the day: the quality of the morning light on the hillsides and distant mountains
