Day 32 To Sarria

Day 32 October 10 Destination = Sarria / 142 km to go.

“Each of us is here for a brief sojourn; for what purpose he knows not, though he sometimes thinks he senses it. But without deeper reflection one knows from daily life that one exists for other people”
-Albert Einstein

Thete are two routes out of Triacastela- the N or S route. I took south as it sounds like less road and more through the woods and countryside. Well it was, and was a lot longer 😳. But very beautiful. Minor detail a lot of climbing in and out of valleys! Pictures speak for themselves, especially when I got to Samos and the monestario where I happened to hit the 12 o’clock service on time. 35000 step day and I may skip dinner and crash early after birthday wishes to my friend John back home !

Another beautiful start to the day

Another beautiful start to the day. How on earth did we hit such weather

Unfortunately ultra slow Internet I will have to update with pictures tomorrow. The municipal hostels have absolutely no Internet but it’s no surprise at 8€ to 12€

Up over the hill and the view down into the valley to the town of Samos, and the famous monastery. Monasterio de San Julián de Samos) is an active Benedictine monasteryThe monastery was the School of Theology and Philosophy. The original foundation is from antiquity. It is known to have been first renovated by Saint Fructuoso (as in high fructose corn sugar ?!) in the seventh century, although the first written mention of this event is from the year 665. Much of what is seen here burned up in a very large fire in 1951, subsequently rebuilt over the following ten years

The ‘Shire’ of Galicia- incredible trails. One of my favorite images

Orchard on monastery property

No Eaglebrook campus in Samos so I attended 12:00 church here. Real incense too 👻

I’m not sure but I think this has something to do with conquering the invading Moors or Muslims both of which happened. A little difficult to focus on the homily of the day with this guy right next to me

The Botanica. They made their own medicinals here. ( see Doctor Anselmus )

Doctor Anselmus - NOT a chance I’d go to him for an annual exam

All the walls of the upstairs cloisters have murals on them, some exquisitely painted, some most unusual. I kind a like this one whatever it means. Scenes of revelation always appeal to me. I guess the whole concept of ‘inspiration’ I find amazing

I simply wanted to hike this section over and over

I simply wanted to hike this section over and over. It is hard to envision the hundreds of thousands that have walked this before me
