Day 22 To Puente Villarente
Day 22 Sept 30 Destination = Puente Villarente / 347 km to go. Major goal to get within a ‘chip-shot’ of Leon today. After yesterday’s shorter walk I believe this will be doable with a 25er today. I am also anxious to move on and put some distance between the mental unease experienced yesterday in Ranero
Walking is the best possible exercise. Habituate yourself to walk very far.”

I just woke up a bit late and I’ve got 30 minutes to pack and go to the front door to start walking with whoever shows up as previously agreed at 7 o’clock last night -my first thought of the day: I’m tired. First action of the day; eat the rest of the yesterdays bag of potato chips and justify it as an intake of electrolytes in other words -salt. Went into the bathroom and the same guy in the mirror was the same guy from four days ago that said in plain English “he left a long time ago”. Gee, thanks a lot just what I needed at 6:40 AM. But I made a commitment to Susanna to start walking no later than 7:00 AM
Walking slightly before dawn was pretty cool but a little weird not having done that yet. Walked on the road as I could not see obstacles or hazards on the path
A lack of a horizon in the ‘electric mist’ made the time go faster - it was rather ethereal
I needed this reminder early in the day today, big time - thank you !
A lot of crosses on the path every day. I have not met a cruz I haven’t liked in some way and judging from all of the stones - I’m not the only one.
Wow do they know how to do a planned forest / natural area…. is this great or what. Was it a mistake not to bring my hammock ?
My habitacion for Esta Noche is an old cow barn and the owners have done an epic job converting the farm into a pilgrims paradise… they have no workers - they run the restaurant, reception, do the laundry, keep the bar running you get the picture! I would love to come back to this one !

3m tall esculptura. Me? Not today. Maybe I’ll feel this way in Santiago - Got to get there first“
The Wi-Fi really did not extend beyond the salon area which was very comfortable. It led to the awesome garden and outdoor bar. Albergue San Pelayo is one of the top five places I’ve stayed thus far. They deserve a 5 star review for beauty, comfort, service, room, bed, and hospitality !
