Day 20 Sept 28 Destination = Sahagun / 381 km to go.

Wow! passed the halfway point (to Santiago) yesterday somewhere on the endless via Romana - wow! Fewer steps to go now than those taken thus far.

The Shire of Palencia.  Appx 500 years old, families used these rooms for winemaking & wine / cheese storage.  A couple of them are still used for such.

Once past Astorga we leave la Meseta (next week). Capitulo tres / chapter 3 entitled “A Santiago” begins then: stay tuned….but first on to Leon for a day and a half ( first full rest day (didn’t happen) ) of sightseeing

I should have at least gone in for a sello (stamp). Too tired. Many lodge here at this well know monastery / hostel because of its history, size, and unbelievably beautiful cloisters and courtyard (below)

What a great evening dinner celebrated by Germany Czech Republic, USA, Denmark, and Estonia!  Holger, Kathy, SrTomas, Lars, Susanna, Nick, & Mart.   The Vino flowed freely and  the food quite above average La Cuenca was too.Great end of day reflections of Camino today, aches n pains, and anticipation of what may be next…. And remaining mileage

What a great evening dinner celebrated by Germany Czech Republic, USA, Denmark, and Estonia! Holger, Kathy, SrTomas, Lars, Susanna, Nick, & Mart. The Vino (unbeknownst to all of us the waiter started choosing expensive bottles of vino ‘for us’ -thank you for padding the bill ) flowed shall we say rather freely and the food was quite above average! And due to the wine served/chosen for us the ‘cuenta’ was quite above average too. Nick and Mart had an incredible wood fired pizza. Prolly the best pizza on Camino Frances!
